OVERVIEW

Originally built in the 17th century, this historic property is rich in character. While the interiors reflect its long heritage, recent renovations have thoughtfully introduced modern comforts to complement the charm of the ancient building.

One of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, the Douro Valley is peaceful for most of the year, apart from the lively three weeks of harvest each autumn. There is plenty to do for wine enthusiasts as well as the rest of your party, including vineyard walks and picnics, winery visits and wine tastings, boat trips along the Douro River, a historic train ride, exploring the region’s traditional gastronomy, and even grape treading during harvest time.

Breakfast is included with your stay, and additional meals can also be arranged for your family or group whenever you wish. These can be prepared either by a local cook or a private chef. Quinta Dorian also produces its own table wines, which you are welcome to taste during your stay.

OUTSIDE

Beautiful gardens and terraces surround the main building, and the swimming pool enjoys a stunning setting overlooking the vineyards and the river below. The old lagares (stone troughs once used for grape treading) have been thoughtfully converted into a gym, and guests can also enjoy a padel court and a snooker table. The wine cellar provides a particularly atmospheric setting for celebratory dinners or corporate gatherings, and still features the traditional earthen floors that were once used to maintain the ideal temperature and humidity for storing wine.

PLEASE NOTE: This property is not suitable for people with mobility issues or young children due to steep steps, uneven terrace floors and unprotected drops from the garden onto terraced vineyards. This is a working estate with machinery and farming products and children must be supervised. Children under 7 are only accepted with a signed disclaimer
